Toby works with groups as a facilitator and teacher
In addition to her private practice, Toby Ellen French works with groups as a facilitator and teacher. She has led art, stress management, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy groups for adults and seniors in hospitals and intensive outpatient psychiatric programs. She developed and facilitated an art therapy program for groups of inmates in Sonoma County. She has facilitated crisis resolution groups in organizations whose staff have experienced trauma and loss. In her private practice, she leads groups utilizing body based and art process therapies. Most recently, Ms. French created and facilitated an event, “Getting To Know Your Inner Teenager” for adult mentors working with adolescents.
Ms. French has taught classes in Medical Weight Management and Compulsive Overeating in hospital and community college settings. She has completed training to teach Hatha and Pranayama yoga as well as meditation. In addition, she supervises interns working towards their license in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Art Therapy. Ms. French has been an active member of a professional consult group for 14 years. She is a consultant for colleagues concerning the appropriate treatment of patients destabilized by a major mental illness.
